June 2006 7th Edition

At PTG Global, we make technology work by getting the design right the first time.

Hi!

Welcome to the June edition of Intuitive. I’m filling in for James this month, as he’s gone off globe-trotting on his honeymoon with Kylie. He's on a whirlwind trip toHong Kong, Northern Thailand, Vietnam and Europe – and he’s having a great time. We’ll see James back around mid July.

Last month we talked about the importance of psychology in IT, and we’ve put up a new page in our Method section describing in more detail how Psychology is fundamental to getting the UI design right.

Also, there are a few new Papers up on the site. We’re hearing around town a strong preference for a ‘buy not build’ approach to developing IT systems. Our White Papers outline some problems with this approach.
In our second Paper, we introduce a new technology called Alloy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, featured recently in June’s edition of Scientific American. I strongly urge you to read our article, and then the visit the Alloy website for more information.

The employee of the month for June is Ulla. She'll give you an intro to herself a bit later in this edition.

Finally, we’re still looking for a name for our Blog. We’ve got the software installed (if you’re interested, we chose WordPress) and will be launching it soon. The subscription to Australian Anthill is still up for grabs!!

We trust you’ve all had a good financial year. With a buoyant economy, things are certainly looking very good for the next one.

Have a great month, and we'll see you next in July!

Cheers,
Craig Errey

Psych registration is important but not essential. UI design and usability experience is not essential. If this is you, contact Craig Errey at craige@ptg-global.com or on 0416 266 216.
